6 Hacks for Bullet Journal Index

After a while, your bullet journal index will contain a lot of entries. And it could get ugly. There is a more sophisticated way to list your bullet journal index than a plain old list.

Christina77star shows 6 ways to split your index. One option is to separate meetings from the ordinary list. Or try collections instead. Perhaps monthly spreads could be their separate list. There are also ideas for coding and icons. It's your index, just smarter. Check it out.

One fantastic idea (I can't remember where I encountered it) suggests putting the Index in the back of your journal. Expand as needed. When you run out of space for the index you're probably out of space in the entire notebook.

Bullet Journal for Teachers: Class Semester

A previous post ( Bullet Journal for the hard working educator ) linked to a now dead page. I've updated the post so it links to the archive.org version of a page on 16 layouts for teachers. Here is an ultra-streamlined take on one layout idea from that page, a class semester for the teacher. (affiliate links included in this post) As with the Universal Journal approach (minimal set up time) I've tried to incorporate placement, iconography, and colors to communicate as much information as possible with as little effort as possible. Streamlined Bullet Journal Index

The index is crucial for many of bullet journalers. Those who use the bullet journal method closer to its original design find the index useful (since returning to old content is a fairly regular thing) but there is always the matter of how. This is an ultra-streamlined take on the index. First, I wish I could remember where I saw this idea in order to give credit. It's brilliant and so simple to do. Given the uncertainty of required space for the index, and the uncertainty of the required space for the future log, why not separate these two things? Putting the index in the back of the book solves this issue with grace. I can set up a spread or two for the future log in the front but in the back there is all the space I will ever need. When the index meets the content or even gets close to it, it's time to move to a new notebook. Another trick (kudos to Christina77star ) is the separation of the index into categories.
